Cattleya labitata var. atropurpurea
Not especially good form in this one (petals too pointed), but the lip is awesome! The deep purple covering the entire surface of the lip, except for the golden lines, characterizes the variety atropurpurea (a narrow pink margin is allowed).

Nice... but I can't stop drooling over your Phalaenopsis pulcherrima (Lindl.) J.J.Sm. - f. pelórica alba!! Going to have to check out the rest of your shots on Flickr now too :D

Nice! The lip is so so pretty. I kinda like the pointed petals. I know nothing about what the blooms should look like, but the pointiness gives it a nice look. Do you have a pic of one with good form, for comparison?

I Totally agree with Camille. Perhaps it doesn't fit someones arbitrary standard, but it is itself, and lovely as it is.

Dito to the above!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say :D I'm not an AOS judge, but these are enchanting!!

Ditto! :coverlaugh:
It might not be exactly what the true standard is supposed to look like but it is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing, Mauro :bowing |
I agree with you all, I also find it a beautiful flower regardless of the pointed petals. I only mentioned this fact because in a judgment this fact would be pointed out as a non desirable characteristic.
Camille, I have another variety atropurpurea with better shape to compare. I'm posting it soon! |
