I came home from work today and found my stella blooming away. It was transfered to S/H in April and this is the second time it's bloomed since then. If you look closely, you'll see two more spikes just starting out.
:) I love this time of year - everything's jumping! |
What a nice surprise! Very pretty! :)

another bud and the 2 spikes, very nice.

Snowden,
Excellent! :bowing  :bowing Thanks for sharing this beautifully colorful Stella. |
Thanks everyone!
This is a plant I would recommend to anyone. It's easy to grow (as are most with brassavola in it), it's almost free-flowering, and it's beautiful, to boot! |
Very pretty, I've never seen this one before. What kind of light is yours in? So far, of my 3 Brassavolas, 2 didn't do a thing this year.
|
I give it as much light as it can handle short of burning the leaves - as I do with my brassavolas. During the summer outside, they are shaded only around noon. In the house, they're in a south window supplemented with a grow light that's on 12-15 hours a day.
Hope this helps! |

Congrats on the Stlma. I have the same plant but it is in a hanging basket. I can't switch to s/h as the roots have grown so thick that I could never separate it from the basket. Nevertheless, it is in gloriuos bloom and has over 20 spikes with 3 to 5 bloomsd on each spike. I have had the plant for 5 years and in all previous years would only get two or three spikes. So look forward to next year and yours may do the same. mojomick

Great looking plant and blossoms. I am leaning towards getting some of these myself.
