B. nodosta, which one would you choose?
If you could have only one B. nodosta, which cross/variety would you choose and why? :hmm

Let me start you out with one Ross has for it's petite size -

Morning Glory (B. nodosa x L. purpurata) one I have admired for a long time - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ing-glory.html http://www.orchidboard.com/community...glory-h-r.html I'm sure I could come up with quite a few more I'd like to see which others are member's favorites :D Al - Are you interested in any particular color or color pattern? :hmm |

No, but I can have only one, I would like to know what others would choose if they were in the same situation and why they chose that one. I think you have at least one Dorothy, why did you pick that one and do you wish you had a different one? Al |
I have quite a few hybrids - and I enjoy them all .. but like all orchid lovers .. it's always the ones I don't have that I desire more so ;)

I have 2 of them 1 blooms late summer just once .
My favorite is B. nodosa Susan Fuchs X Largo it blooms several times a year smaller plant but larger blooms . here is a link to a picture of it . Gin http://www.orchidboard.com/community...s-x-largo.html |
I like the 'Mickey Mouse' do to it's small size. It's mounted on a large stick, I have plenty of room for it, and it looks like a miny Brassavola.

I have a B. Little Stars (nodosa x cordata) that I love due to it's reliability. It is always in bloom from around Thanksgiving to well into January. It's a longer leafed variety though, so Keep that in mind.
If you want some color, try Bc Maikai. It's a classic. Or what about Bc. Yellow Bird? Shoot, there are soooo many! You gotta narrow it down for us! |
B. nodosa 'Susan Fuchs' is a nice clone with its big blossoms, broad and curly lips. Won First Class Certificate(FCC) from AOS. Quite unique!
http://ablackorchid.com/BnodosaSF6.jpg B. nodosa 'Mas Mejor' is another nice clone with narrower lip, flatter leaves, and compact. Won Award of Merit(AM) from AOS. Brassavola nodosa 'Mas Mejor', AM/AOS, CCM/AOS at Santa Barbara Orchid Estate This is a great website to check out Brassavola related hybrids too Allen Black Orchid Photo Page - Brassavola Species & Hybrids |
For hybrid, I heard that Bc. Maikai and Bl. Yellow Bird are very good ones. I also heard that they are fragrant at night.
Maikai 'Louise' AM/AOS is a better clone than 'Maiyumi' according to what I'm reading, maybe I'm wrong so correct me. Bl. Yellow Bird can change color as the blooms age, cool factor! |
