Looks to me like just algae. Harmless.

Thanks Roberta.

It's a relief that it's harmless.

It started when I moved all my orchids from my patio to the greenhouse, do I need to do anything to avoid algae building on other pots?

Anywhere there is water + light + fertilizer, there will be algae.

Chances are you'll have to replace the moss well be fore the algae could become an issue, unless you're overfeeding.

Greenhouse is more humid than patio. Algae is no big deal, it happens and does no harm.

Thanks Ray and Roberta for the inputs. I will wait and see. I am planning to repot the maxillaria / richii Ecuador in first picture as I won't see much growth since I bought from Andy's orchid in Jun 2023, I have feeling the moss is degrading, smelling little bit off. The second pot I have repotted couple of weeks back.

Should I be considering particular media to avoid algae, currently its in moss only.

Thanks.

I would focus more on what is good for the plant rather than preventing algae. Andy typically uses sphagnum when he thinks it's the best medium for plants needing to stay moist.

Thanks for chiming in. I will use sphagnum moss only :) .
