Besgrow NZ Moss vs Supermoss from Santa Barbara

1 Attachment(s)
I know that Besgrow NZ Moss has been strongly suggested by experts here on this forum. I previously bought Supermoss from Santa Barbara for seeding trees, though it is advertised to be effective for Orchids, and has high ratings on Amazon (though I've heard these can be fake)

The Supermoss is about half the price of Besgrow by volume, though the Besgrow looks a bit more densely packed.

Should I definitely go with the Besgrow... is anyone familiar with Supermoss from Santa Barbara for Orchids, or even both, to say yay or nay?

I will post a pic comparing the 2. The one which is lighter colored and more densely packed is the Besgrow NZ, and the other looser darker one is Supermoss from Santa Barbara.

Sorry, to clarify, the one below with orange packaging is the Besgrow...

:thanx:

I haven’t used either of those products but since you have both, why not run a side by side trial so you know which one performs better under your specific conditions?

have not used the latter. In my opinion the Besgrow product quality has decreased significantly but I had a large package that I am still using and it seems acceptable still. I have heard good things about "One Mile Moss" but have only obtained the super long strand of this brand for neofinetia (which I do like). I believe Sunset Valley might have NZ moss for sale.

You can't evaluate the moss from the compressed/dry package - you need to hydrate it, so that you can compare strand length and "fuzziness". I like the Besgrow product, but alas can't get the "Supreme" grade any more. I agree with Jmoney, still "pretty good" but would no longer say "excellent".
