Cattleya Cernua 'Androides Sister' x 'Tokyo Round'
1 Attachment(s)
This is the second blooming for this little guy, what should have been 4 (or even 5) blooms, but I always manage to knock at least one bud off due to wanting to get a "closer look at the buds as they develop" or something along those lines. I love the shape and color, size is pretty decent too. I didn't measure it formally, or if I did, I can't remember, but they were a little bit larger than a quarter on the widest dimension... That would be underwhelming for most plants, but for this one (whose bulbs average barely 1" long) that's a decent size flower. I was told by some that this is likely 4N, but that determination is beyond my abilities.

I like the color of cernua's blooms (well, all of the sophronitis genus actually). Your plant looks great also. I've always liked this species. Unfortunately, being such a small grower, the last time I had one a grasshopper discovered it and devoured the plant completely. Having just finished its lunch, the insect looked a little like Godzilla looming over Tokyo when I finally discovered it. Congratulations on your second blooming.

I love the shape of those flowers.
Mine are more "pointy" and I prefer your more rounded shape. Nice job. |
