Is this a keiki?
3 Attachment(s)
None of my plants have ever grown a keiki before, so I need some help identifying it. A few weeks ago my Ever Spring Prince began to grow what looked like a new flower spike, so I thought, "yay, more flowers!" but then the past few days I have been noticing that the "flower spike" has been taking on the shape of a leaf. But leaves grow from the center of the plant, not a flower spike! So is my plant growing a keiki, or an alien life form?
Thanks, -Kat |
You are now the proud momma of a basal keiki! :cloud9:

WOoHOo .. you have yourself a basal keiki alright
Congrats  Start passing out cigars for the gents and chocolate for the ladies (but you can make mine an orchid, instead ;) ) :coverlaugh: |
Yay!!!! Thanks you guys for the responses!
So now, how long do you think it will be until I can separate it from the mother? or should I just let it stay there forever? |
It's your choice .. you can keep it there and produce a specimen plant or you can remove it but make sure the keiki has it's own roots a good few inches long before separating it ... :)
