Hello from Charleston, SC

Hi all, just joined and wanted to say hello from Charleston, South Carolina.

I've been growing the usual beginner phalaenopsis for a long time. A few years after that, I got more interested and found B. nodosa and Bc. Yellow Bird and Max. tenuifolia at Lowe's. A few years after that, I had amassed a collection of a few dozen various orchids of all kinds, mostly still pretty well-known and easy-to-grow hybrids, largely Brassavola and Cattelya hybrids. So, a very common story, I think.

I'm definitely getting to the point where the size and needs of my plants are outgrowing my "windowsills" and so am working on moving some stuff outside. Currently having good success with mounting B. nodosa and hybrids thereof and hanging in trees.

Here to learn more, marvel at others' collections and wisdom, and hopefully speaking, post photos of anything I can get to bloom.

I'm in Charleston, but I want to go to Carter and Holmes in Newberry, SC.

If you do plan to visit Charleston, I particularly like April and October.

Welcome.

I used to live in Georgetown (or at least visited on weekend - damned business travel).

If you haven’t found them already, definitely check out the Coastal Carolina Orchid Society. Check for yourself, but I believe they meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month at Charleston Southern U.

Thanks, Ray! I am aware of them, but haven't attended a meeting yet.

I love Georgetown! I was actually looking at some property up there this summer, but passed on the opportunity.
