:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing i think she didn’t like the new pot because i put too much sphagnum. moved back, a while back, to previous pot with nearly (new medium) zero sphagnum. AND examined and trimmed some roots when i did. that was important, not too bad, but needed. crown remained quite healthy at the time. she’s a fighter! :twocents: also, i was experimenting with a new light. one leaf tip (tiny bit) got burnt… it was too close. i guess that kinda tells me it was powerful enough. but the new light itself was too white for me. these daylight GE HD bulbs are slightly yellow with a comparison side by side. so i got another fixture and same bulb, two. i think probably the one was enough — it certainly worked quite before. but with two i feel i can use a bit more height AND guide where the spike grows better. ;) lastly, while doing all that a few months or so back, phal started to shed a lower leaf. at first i thought, :( OH NO WHAT’s HAPPENING! she shed 2 or 2 more than year ago, closer to when/ after i girst got it — 2+ yrs ago. come to figure out: if new roots are coming out on top of leaf being shed, thst means it’s OK. thst some phals like to shed lower leaf or 2 or even 3. so, she shed one and i eventually cut it off myself. then, soon following was lower leaf other side starting to be shed… NOW i’ve decided she apparently likes it and wants completely shed it herself. :D:bowing ok. and finally, again the lower leaf on the other side began to shed number 3. she had 7 leaves!!! when she’s done there be 4. :blushing::D all quite well. but next time how about some sphagnum please? water every 3-4 days. feed every other time, mostly. sorry for blurry pic, wasn’t blurry when i uploaded. :( try here: Shared album - Ted Rogers (ichi) - Google Photos <— shared pic, not album. :blushing::biggrin:  :hello :waving:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing |
i think you need more plants, cause that’s a lotta energy for just that one phal! looks good tho! and it’ll look even better when it sheds that bottom leaf, hahaha

:waving :bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing hey, it took us a LONG time to make that beautiful yellow leaf. we’re building the opposite one now, one of it’s original either first or second leafs. i might guess it was about or nearing 4 yo. #yellowisthenewpurple :D:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing |

:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing weeeelllll, one leaf was ready to drop so i took it off. the opposite lower leaf was almost completely yellow, I was gonna leave it but it just kind of fell and came right off even though it had a little green in it. Then I noticed it was unstable, like it didn’t have a bunch of roots holding it in very well or something like it would very easily fall out. so I began to check that out. And seeing how easily it would just come right out of the pot. I decided I better repot and check the roots again.:) Here are some pictures of what I found I sprayed a diluted solution of 3% peroxide not much dried it off well let it sit for a few minutes and then I repotted it and did not water it. I hope things go well, but I have one question : looking at the pictures should I have cut off some of that lower core? I still do that if it’s important. oh, i had to put a stake to help support the whole plant. thanks! uh-oh photos won’t upload, PLEASE look here: roots/core - Google Photos :( :bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing:bowing |
