To those experienced in Mexicoa Ghiesbreghtiana

Hello everyone,
I have this wonderful little orchid that I have seen nobody else grow on OB so I don't know why I am asking this but just in case someone is experienced in growing and flowering a Mexicoa Ghiesbreghtiana I was wondering about the growth on mine.

If you look on pictures of the plant online you will see that some bulbs have two leaves, some bulbs have 1 leaf.

Mexicoa ghiesbreghtiana (as Odontoglossum warneri var. purpuratum) - Edwards vol 33 (NS 10) pl 20 (1847) with a spike growing from a formed pbulb.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...%281847%29.jpg

This is my plant, as you can see the oldest bulb has 2 leaves and the newest growths only have 1 leaf

Is it of concern and if so what can I do to get it to grow 2 leaves?

Thank you for your ideas

Shade ---- your plant appears to be normal and just fine. The illustration even shows 3 leaves. Eventually your plant will develop bulbs with 2 or leaves, or even more.

It would be nice if you create your own thread instead od copying it from another, thread name included. Don't think it's against forum rules but it's not nice and creates confusion.

Well, I'd sure agree it's an oddity. Here's rbarata's post from July... To those experienced in mexicoa ghiesbreghtiana

Similarities abound, indeed. We do have rules regarding Photos and Copywrighted material; it does appear from Wikimedia (the source of the illustration here) it's even got a bit of conflict doing on there.

Plagiarism of a thread title? Similarity in questions asked? It's a fine line in the sand, and fortunately no one's being graded on an essay. As a moderator, I guess I'd put this one in the Odd, Strange, and Weird category. Serendipity? Perhaps we'll never know.

The one thing we do now for certain at this point, is more than one OB member has the plant, and it must be one that not many folks appear to grow or we'd have ten replies of how the plant operates.

DANG!.. do I hear an OP echo?

Such an original thread/title/post. Only one excuse from my end (regardless of what happens to the status of my membership as a result) ~ the devil made me do it , so here it goes...

Oh Good Golly! Please tell me the parrot reference is Monty Python and I haven’t totally lost touch yet! If so, I’m dyin’ here…

If not, Ahem, please disregard.

You have definitely not lost touch... Mods should be getting perks and overtime pay when having to referee the 'flying circus'

No brown-nosing or cheer-leading here, just telling it like it is: hats off to all the Mods for being laid-back and fair, especially with the "fine line in the sand" & "not the norm" posts as-of-late.

Hopefully understood... no disrespect with 'my post' directed to Shadeflower (who did post a good question about his/her plant), or to rbarata (who made a good point about "creates confusion"), or anyone else. This thread does appear to be a duplicate post by 2 different posters, and very close in time to each other. By the way ~ Mexicoa ghiesbreghtiana sounds like a very interesting orchid. Hope both posters will keep us updated with their progress.

Dead Parrot is one of my very favorite skits. First time I saw it, literally laughed so hard I peed my pants. Yes, I'm warped, thanks for noticing.
