Sunburn on Angraecum: How bad is it?
2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I feel terrible about this Angraecum. I left it under an umbrella on my patio and it still somehow managed to burn. Is it bad? Is it burned enough to put the plant at a significant harm risk? Are the impacted leaves going to fall off? I have attached photos of the burned and the non-burned side. Hopefully it is just cosmetic but I am worried it could be a catastrophic burn for this plant. I thought if I left it under my patio umbrella which is also under the roof of the house it would be fine. I guess I was wrong. |
It depends on how deeply the tissue was heated. It is possible just the leaves will turn brown and die. If the heat reached the central stem some of the plant may be lost. If the stem is cooked through, any viable stem above the injury might grow new roots, and any viable stem below the injury might sprout a new growth. You will just need to wait.

If that's the case they'll remain together but half will dry up. Wait until completely dry and brown. You'll be able to peel the dead parts off easily.
