I believe that is a Clivia.

could it be Rahuia peruviana or some Haemanthus? Thos hairy leaves.. Haemanthus albiflos maybe

Dollythehun 04-24-2021 08:35 AM

Are they hairy? Or is that a reflection of light? Did he show you a picture of the bloom? That would be a big help, as it could be several things. There is no bulb, correct?

amarylis (hippeastrum)? Remove some soit around top see if there is a bulb there. IF it is, keep it uncovered 1/3 above the soil.

I also think it's clivia. Flowers are so nice. :D :goodluck:

I agree Haemanthus. Note the fringe on the leaf margins.

Dollythehun 04-24-2021 01:19 PM

Well, I was hoping you'd weigh in. I would have never noticed that fringe. But, I did question if the leaves had fuzz.

All the suggeations offered so far are in family Amaryllidaceae, so people here have a pretty good idea of what they are seeing. Haemanthus tend to have very wide leaves for their length, and usually fine hairs along leaf margins. Rauhia leaves often have spots underneath. There are a lot of Haemanthus species so a flower photo will be helpful. Clivia and Hippeastrum have narrower leaves with no fringe.

You can look up all these at the Pacific Bulb Society. Choose Photos in the top menu.

I have seen Clivia with fatter leaves. OP doesn't have a picture of flowers, as they were gifted the plant.
