Doritaenopsis Winter Clouds with roots drying at base of plant

I am attempting to attach a picture of a phalaenopsis whose roots are drying up at the base of the plant. Should I do something to help it?

Thanks,
David

Discolored/brown exposed roots are common, and are often caused by lower humidity, or due to mineral deposits (hard water or fertilizer), though I can't say for certain what's going on with your plant.

The discoloration doesn't prevent the roots from functioning correctly, but if the cause is mineral related, this would be a good time to look into your water hardness and evaluate your fertilizer dosage.

Thanks Camille. Yes, they have probably been a little dry and the water quality in my home has been up and down since Hurricane Michael in 2018. This is my first year being able to tend to my orchid since Michael. I got tree-obsessed for the first two years after the Hurricane and mostly focused on tree cultivation. I’m just happy I can return to taking care of the orchid and see how they improve.

Thanks for your reassuring feedback.
David
