Miltonia phymatochila
I am very pleased with this plant. I grow it as a mount and it has been a pretty easy grower.
the spike is awesome and multi-branched and the flowers are quite long lasting (several weeks fully open) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d248eefa_c.jpgRainy orchids by J Solo, on Flickr these are very hard for me to photograph as they are small, numerous and very 3 dimensional. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...73a1b23c_c.jpgThe last label maker I’ll ever need by J Solo, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...8384f293_c.jpgMilkweed and some friends by J Solo, on Flickr even took her out of the lath house and still tricky https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cb6fb4ac_c.jpgThis, that, the other thing....flowers by J Solo, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...52a20c84_c.jpgThis, that, the other thing....flowers by J Solo, on Flickr id love to hear about anyone else's culture or experience with this super cool species :waving |
That's a lot more fun to look at up close bloomwise! Good thing you can grow that beast outside. Wouldn't want to give it shelf room at my place!

this one is not for those of limited space...it made me move three times because it just grew straight up and then launched this rocket...if it starts to grow in many directions i'll need a new plan lol
and i totally agree about the flowers....it looks like a bunch of insects from a few feet away but from a few inches...so cool and intricate |
Thanks! I considered that one a while ago. You're convincing me.

It passes my outdoor heat test as I acquired her in 2019 so she had a full Florida summer, for what it is worth ES
