Dracula vampira, is it time to get excited?

My vampira has done quite well this summer considering how aweful hot it has been, it just finished two new growths and has four more starting.... The question is in the picture, there are three growths there, the two on the outsides that are pointing up are definitely new growths, but the middle one is smaller and is pointing downwards? Could it be what I think it is? I know spikes typically come from the root ball but I have seen a few in pictures come from the top... What are your thoughts? P.S. If anyone says spike I may just poop my pants

Ha ha! Another one learning to wait!

Hehe, are you mocking me or are you in the same boat? Seriously though, I was so sure I was going to kill this plant after I bought it, I even considered donating it to either my local orchid society or botanical gardens. But a year later here it is growing, and actually pretty happy, so yeah blooms would be amazing and perfect timing because the temperatures should start getting better for it in the next few days/weeks.

Orchids teach learning to wait.

New growth on a challenging plant is just as blissful to me as a new spike. Looks like this guy is headed in the right direction!

My Dracula spikes usually grow out of the side or bottom of the basket, especially the large-flowered ones, only a few grow from the top of the plant. So patience, patience...
