Phalaenopsis Fungus? - white growth, can’t identify
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
First time poster. I have looked high and low for an answer as to what is growing on my phalaenopsis stem? I have attached a picture. It is white with a tinge of yellow, about 1/8th up starting from base at leaves. When touched, it feels dry. It can be scratched off, but it also scratches the stem. Any advice welcome. I am a newer orchid owner and have not reached out before, but this is quickly becoming my favorite hobby. Thanks in advance! |
So sorry, should I report this in the beginner’s thread? I am not sure how to move a post.

That doesn't look super concerning to me. I'm not sure it's fungus. Watch it and if it spreads you may have a problem, but it may not spread. If you are really worried and want to be proactive, you can treat it with Physan 20, with is a good everything-cide. Even if it's nothing, treating the plant with it won't hurt anything.

I think it is a thin bract that dried up.

If it's dry, then it should be just fine to leave it there. |
jocelynflower, I have deleted your duplicate thread, and moved this one to the beginner forum for you. :) Threads can't be moved once they are posted, and you can either contact a moderator to move it for you, or moderators move things when they notice it's in the wrong place.
