I placed an order with Cal-Orchid 4/30. It arrived today in perfect condition and packed exceedingly well. I highly recommend!

Coelogyne Unchained Melody and Dendrochilum tenellum. Notice the size of the dendrochilum.

good lawd!!! that is a dendrochilum forest!

That Dendrochilum is a major steal... next late winter (they bloom Jan-Feb for me) that is going to be SPECTACULAR. (Just don't try to count the flowers...)

You were right Roberta. Two new shoots on the coelogyne too. A good purchase and a thank you note included.

When you have nothing better to do, suggest trimming those old spikes (like with a manicure scissors)... when it's in spike, it's really hard to tell the old ones from the new ones (and very sad to make a mistake) so easier to clean it up now when you know they're all spent. Looking forward to seeing when it's blooming!

As soon as I finish watering the herd. Also needs a bigger pot.

Hello Dolly(Has a ring to it)! I have 3 Ddc. and enjoy them so much when in bloom(2 wenzelii red and yellow and a tenellum). My trick is I wait till spikes are totally dead and dry and then just pluck them out with no damage done. Amazing tho how sharp the tips are on the wens as if to say "leaf me alone"!

Dollythehun 05-08-2020 07:34 PM

I'm sitting in front of the sink snipping them out. How do you grow yours DeaC? I know it has to be up high to be safe from Dolly. Lol

That tenellum is a super nice plant but I bet Unchained Melody ends up the winner if you can grow it well.
Have a friend that has a massive specimen that always was in bloom for annual show (Feb). Filled his truck with trophies every year because of that plant. When you walked into the hotel ballroom, that was all you could smell. It was just a jaw dropping plant.

I hope to. I've wanted one for awhile now. I'd recently cleared out some space for it. I understand they're fairly easy.
