First bloom on the 2nd mature growth. This is a sequential bloomer. After 4 flowers, I will cut the flower stem off so to conserve energy for new growth(s).

Fantastic flower! Why are the leaves packed with what appears to be cinnamon powder? Thanks for sharing this photo.
|
I put cinnamon powder on all of my orchids (except cattaleya and my precious C. goeringii) as a cat detterent. My C. goeringii collection is grown in separate locations (it changes according to the 4 seasons) where the cats cannot get to them. If I don't apply cinnamon powder after each watering, they will try to eat leaves...

Thanks for sharing that information! I'm sure that will help some people with orchids and cats!!
I have a cat, but fortunately mine doesn't eat orchids or harms them. But for those orchid growers with cats that do -------- will remember to pass this one on ..... the cinnamon method! Handy to know. |
