Weird yellow specks on newer leaves of my Gongora
2 Attachment(s)
I found that my Gongora claviodora has developed weird light speckles on newer, growing leaves. (Older leaves are fine) Now I am suspecting virus...but virus detection kit is very hard to get in my country.
I am really worried...Should I destroy this plant? |
it's getting worse

Things are getting worse. The specks appear to be spreading, and now there are couple of round brown spots beginning to form... |
Of course, I checked for the mite, but it appears to be clean. (Examined with magnifying glass, rubbed undersides of the leaves with wet white paper towel, etc)
Now I've isolated this plant, and will watch for any further development... |
Looks pretty strange, possibly nematodes, deficiency of minerals or virus. Anyway, if you use a treatment for nematodes it also kills mites.

I have a number of Stanhopeas and Acinetas (similar to Gongoras), and all of them have leaf spotting. Every one I have ever purchased has had leaf spotting (from quality vendors). I think those leaves look great. I think this type of orchid is just very prone to leaf spotting.
