Sweet miniature oncidium I picked up at Andy's Orchids a few weeks ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Ooh, that's pretty. I got a plant labeled Odontoglossum coloratum at a raffle recently, and I assume that it is the same thing, renamed? I hope so!

This is really nice, love the bloom. Looks like another for my list. Thank you for sharing!

What a lovely, curious little alien!
I'm so envious you can just go to Andy's. Although, when I think about it, it's probably a very good thing for me that Andy is located waaay over there. |

Thanks I was looking for another plant and Andy walked me through the greenhouse and showed me to this one while we were on our way. It's funny because my husband had been by the 'not for sale' section of these earlier and taken a photo to show me.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7c52274bfd.jpg One day I hope mine will look like this! My gosh, look at all those spikes and flowers!
I guess I have the mystery odontoglossum. It's a handwritten label from a member of my OS, so I guess I'll just have to be patient. |
What temperatures does it handle? I see Francisco Miranda has them as well, under the name Carriella colorata.

Currently it's in the 20-25 C (65-78 F) and the humidity where it is currently growing stays around 70%.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...4a97367442.jpg The second bud opened yesterday. Whatever it's name I'm so happy with this little orchid! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

San Diego stays mild most of the year daytime temps between 60-85 F (16-29 C) nights can get cold 44-19 F (26-7 C), but generally stay well above frost or plant damaging temperatures at night. I am about 7 miles from the coast so several weeks a year we will get sustained heat close to 100 F (35-37 C) for a week or more at a time. I grow all of my miniatures inside so everything stays in the daytime temps range all year, I don't have central air conditioning so I try not to buy and cool growing plants. I have my Catts, Onc, Ond, Phals, and everything else outside in a protected part of the garden April-September. I move them to the porch where it is more protected from the Santa Ana winds and the temperature stays more even September-April. |
Really cute one.

This is just so cute! I've been looking, not found one yet. Maybe a phone call to Andy.
|
Wow, that is wild!
