This is a more compact plant that smells divine! Both Andy's and Oakhill has these for reasonable prices right now, so if you feel the urge, I encourage you to splurge!

Yours has more of a purple undertone than mine. Very nice!!

You'll love it...it grows like a weed and is a very reliable bloomer. Good stuff!

You are TOOOO kind! :blushing:

Here's is it's last bloom...this past late Apr/early May sometime. Not a great pic...my pics have been coming out very grainy for some reason. ?? Anyway...you can see yours is darker w/a stronger purple undertone. I like your color better.

You're welcome. Will you be displaying plants in the MidAmerica show in November? We plan on going as long as the weather is decent for driving.

Bud 08-07-2014 03:39 PM

Beautiful flowers, and fragrant at that! Good growing, nikkik !

Yes, I'm planning on putting whatever decent stuff I have blooming in our display. That is...if they opt to cooperate. You know how that goes.

Fingers crossed the weather AND the orchids cooperate! ;)

I do know how that goes!! I never have orchids in bloom for our meetings or shows, all of my stuff blooms when we are on break or opens 2 days after a meeting or show! Lol! Thank goodness someone in my society mails out pictures of our blooming plants if we send him a picture or my society might not think I really grow orchids!

My fingers are crossed the weather is nice too. We want to make a weekend of it.

Very nice one nikkik and much darker than mine. I've had mine 7 years and only noticed a fragrance this year, a little like cotton candy. I love this species.

Your plant is marvelous! Thank you for sharing your photo!

How easy is this species to grow? I do like the compact growth habit.

IMO, it's very easy to grow. It likes light, it's adaptable to a variety of temperatures. Your watering would depend on how you are growing it, mine is mounted so it's getting watered most days because it's positioned in a sunny spot outside.
