Bulbophyllum plumatum

This handsome little guy just came into bloom. Can't believe how different bulbo flowers can be from one to the other. I find them fascinating and of course want more! Thanks for looking.

Cool flower! I know what you mean about Bulbos. I'm growing fond of them too.
|
Love it, nice bright yellow! I have a red one that's putting out its first blossom ever....cant wait to see how it turns out.
|
Thank you both, I'm not great with colors...but I would call this one a greenish yellow for sure.
|
Gorgeous, Brenda! This has been on my 'wish list' for years.
By the way, this yellow type is no longer called Bulb. plumatum, it was segregated out as Bulb. thiurum a few years back. This species is rarer in the wild and cultivation than plumatum, itself not too common. Very nice, thanks for posting! :) |
This is one of my favorite bulbos. They're so delicate looking, yet fun at the same time!
|
Fantastic. Well done.

I bought this one and a few other bulbos last spring from Piping rock orchids and they are all thriving, I would highly recommend if you are looking for one!! |
Wow! Awesome!
|
That a gorgeous yellow!!

Petals seemed to have gotten wider and have a bit of a ridged texture now....not sure if you can see in picture.
Thanks for all the nice comments, am hoping it holds on for the show this weekend. |
Plumatum means feathered, by the way :)
|
Very nice but the correct name is B. thiurum. If you look under the dorsal sepal and compare the petals to those on a plumatum you will see they are quite different.

It is a thiorum. Can I ask your growing conditions?

Neo...I grow under t5s in my sun room, keep plant fairly moist....spray every second day of so. Seems to be an easy one for me. |

No it's B. thiurum. B. thaiorum is a different species. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ah so these come in different colours.......interesting.
|
Really nice!
|
Yes, these always look wonderful. Once I get another case to grow with some higher humidity, I plan on growing B. thiurum and B. plumatum in the same pot. I'd love to be to establish them intertwined to produce a wonderful display of flowers.
