Issues with Tapatalk....again
I am vacationing this week, so accessing via Tapatalk. Not only do I get the "out-of-date API" thing, but topics are never marked read.

I'm having the same issues with tapatalk. Enjoy your vacation!

Weird... it's working flawlessly for me.

I have a Windows Phone and I am not downloading it until they get the bugs worked out. Last time I checked on Windows OS you couldn't do half the stuff you could on the Iphone app. I hope they work it out I really miss it. If nothing else you could uninstall and reinstall the app, but honestly you probably know more about it than I do.

I get the same issue window too, Ray. Does not seem to affect functionality, however.

You can always just use the Reader mode in your browser.

Of course, Alla.
I can only think of one time when I simply had to laugh at myself for something like that: I was at an out-of-town speaking engagement, was brushing my teeth before bed, my Sonicare toothbrush battery died, and I didn't have my charger. My first thought was "Oh crap! What am I going to do?" Ray Barkalow Sent using Tapatalk |
The issue with not marking posts as read is an old one. It only works for me when I purposefully go to the option to mark them as read (not when I actually read them).
Well... I'm on Android so not sure if other versions are different on that. I asked on the Tapatalk forum about it some time ago and it comes down to the same thing, of the API on the forum being out of date compared to their versions. The other issue only happens for Tapatalk 4 or Tapatalk HD. It doesn't happen on Tapatalk 2 (which is what I used. I've let Marty know about these issues, but I don't think he's had time to update the API's. I think he's planning to do a major server/software rebuild at some point so hopefully it will be done as part of that. |
I've just recently had the issue of threads not being marked as replied to. But it happened on the web as well as tapatalk

Rosie, "updating the API" consists of downloading a package from the author's website, extracting it, and uploading it to the existing directory, overwriting the current version.

Idiot Alert!!!! And I cannot blame it on wine this time...
The issue I was having with posts not being marked as read had nothing to do with Tapatalk or its API here - it was a Tapatalk user error. Somehow, without noticing it, I switched from the "unread" to "all" tab. Switching it back "miraculously" solved the problem! |
:) Might be the one that confused me in the past as well.
I've been using it a lot this week as well and been having more of an issue that it marks them as read when I don't want it to. If I have notifications on it seems to mark it as read about 6am every day so I can't see what was new overnight :( |
OK so after the latest update a few days ago I can't get OB to open up at all on Tapatalk. It works fine with other forums. Anybody know what's going on?

Never mind. I deleted OB and added it back, & it seems to be working for the time being.

I've been trying on both Tapatalk 4 and Tapatalk 2 recently.
It works on both but gives the warning message on TT4 that the plugin is out of date. It also has a problem that it won't turn off notifications on TT4, this is not only a problem of notifications, it seems to mark the forum as read every time it get's a notification so I can't see what I've read and what I haven't. It's the same on TT2, that it marks it as read when notifications come in, however on that I can turn off the notifications. I've been looking at the Tapatalk forums and it seems the issue with the notifications on TT4 is a known issue when the plugin is out of date, and they've also fixed the problem of the notifications marking things are read, but a new plugin needs to be put on the OB server to get that correction. It also seems updating is not quite the simple matter for Marty of downloading the new plugin and putting it on the server. Yes that could be done but it wouldn't necessarily solve anything. There is a lot of configuration involved with the plugin, which is why each forum appears differently in the tapatalk client, with different options etc. The new plugin has far more capability (such as enabling the 'Like' option) but needs some time spent configuring it. I don't know where Marty's plans for updating our forum software are at, but I guess that will incorporate this. |
