WOW! You have beautiful blooms...I specifically love that large white at the center...they all must be so fragrant !

silken 01-29-2012 09:39 PM

They are all beautiful! I have never had more than 1 cattleya in bloom at a time! I must need more :)

Oh wow!! Nice to have so many in bloom at the same time, I'm jealous, I have a grand total of ONE blooming orchid right now. Out of 70.
Love the little peachy-pink one on the bottom, and the tall red one.

These are so gorgeous. Do you have them outside in NJ??? What do you do to make them flower so majestically! :waving

smweaver 02-03-2012 10:00 PM

Very, very nice! They're all wonderful, but the C. mossiae's my favorite.

Bayard 02-05-2012 10:29 PM

Beezermommy - They grow in a greenhouse all year. The greenhouse faces South, so it gets lots of light (I have to use shade cloth most of the year) and fans run 24/7. Night minimum is 60F in Winter and Summer highs are moderated with a fogger and evaporative cooler. Fertilizer is via a proportioner using reverse osmosis water at 50 ppm nitrogen (Cal-Mag) with the pH adjusted to 6.5. That's it!
