I love it!
I would like to know your growing conditions - light, temp, watering. I have one of these and when it spikes it always blasts so I am sure I am doing something wrong with it! |
Hello and thanks to everyone, tucker it is a little fragrant but nothing strong, fishmommy I grow mine in the greenhouse and temperatures during the summer time are no hotter then 82F and during the winter nights are 55F.I water it every other day and it is hung above my cattleya's so it gets a lot of light and air, fertilize it once a week with a weak solution of 20-20-20.This is my first bloom and when I saw sheets coming out,I stoped spray it and started to water with a bottle so water wouldn't stay on them and always watered in the morning so it would dry out in the evening. How do you grow yours?
|
Very nice, I have one also ! The name's been changed twice since I got it, go figure !
|
I grow mine under lights....I was giving it catt light but it started bleaching, so I lowered it down to high phal light and we'll see how it goes. I soak daily (it's mounted)
Temp stays under 80F Maybe the plant just isn't big enough yet - it has spiked a couple of times but the spikes have fallen off each time. |
If you grow under lights, make sure you have some air movement because lights emit a lot of heat and it is very dry underneath so humidity is important too.Good luck fishmommy:)
|
yeah, I have an oscillating fan right in with the plants so hopefully air movement is good.
Thanks! Yours is gorgeous! |
Mine's doing very well under Phal lights, in sphagnum, watered about every 5 days or so right along with all my Phals about 6" down from the 4 foot 4 bulb T8 fixture, ceiling fan and humidifier on 24/7.
|
Thanks for the input!

That is a lovely flower...and fragrant at that! Its going on my wishlist...
Chryss...you will have a magnificent show of blooms soon...cant wait to see those pictures... fishmommy...the eastcoast is dry in winter...it can suck up moisture bigtime especially indoors with the heaters on at full blast...humidity is important...even spritz them in the afternoons...but the downside: cold and damp=the worst enemy of plants |
Wow Chriss, yours is huge, mine is just a tiny part of yours,I am wondering how does it bloom for you?mine has 14 flowers and I can't even imagine how many do you have every time it blooms?:)
|
very cute!
