Oncidium ornithorhynchum
Picked this one up at a show at the beginning of the month, and the buds are finally open. The fragrance is amazing, it's very sweet.
It's still a small plant (3 bulbs) but knowing how fast Oncs can grow I expect that it'll put on quite a show in a few years. http://inlinethumb07.webshots.com/49...600x600Q85.jpg |
It's lovely, I love the bright yellow with the pink.

What beautiful blooms...cascading in different shapes textures hues of colors...Thanks for posting it just made my day!
|
Absolutely lovely Camille! I have had one for at least 2/3 years and have not managed to bloom it... growth is slow too.... maybe one day I'll have a spike..
Thanks for posting always love looking at pics of this one. Can you post a pic of the whole plant please? |
Mine bloomed about 6 weeks ago, nov-dec, and the flowers didn't last very long. I got one about a year ago and it did nothing until I moved it several months ago to lower light and now its growing like a weed. I spray it but I have noticed some black spots so maybe I shouldn't? How much water does it need? I think the light it is getting is great but may put a humidity tray under it rather than spraying?

Wow!I like this combination of pink and yellow, very pretty, congratulation:)

I love this species! I had one growing when I was in Hawaii and it was hanging in a tree next to my Catt. amethystoglossa (ie. very bright light) with lots of air movement, daily watering and quick drying. Under these conditions it bloomed just about all year round. Probably the most free blooming plant I've ever had. Great little plant!

I Love seeing evreyones blooms of this plant ....Well I'll just keep on trying to keep mine alive and hopefully one day I will see some blooms :)
|
I have one of these....it grows like a weed! I'll post when mine blooms again and I agree with Camille, it smells wonderful.
