Spammers beware!
 

Well, today while I was doing my regular online member sweep for spammers, I found one, so I went to give them an infraction. So as I was giving an infraction, I had the novel idea to entertain myself by adding a funny message into the box below the type of infraction. It started like this, "No spammer can exscape the all seeing eye of the. . ." I then stopped and thought that we should come up with a name for our most elite, sneaky, and all seeing spam busting group! :biggrin: :rofl: :biggrin: :rofl: I was thinking along the lines of the Spambusters or Spamhunters. What do you all think we should 'name' ourselves in this spam war? :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

My mom used to serve us spam sandwiches when we were kids and would try to make it more palatable by frying it first, so maybe you could call your group the Spam Fryers.

Well, going with the 'all seeing' part, what about the 'Spam Masons?' LOL!!!!! :rofl:

Speaking of spam, I'm really tempted to put together spam messages from all the forums I belong to into a poem or blog. I got this idea after viewing a blog that specializes in bone-headed youtube comments. Might be funny to write sarcastic comments after each message or something. :biggrin:

I don't get it. There was alot of spam today. I can see that they are banned, but what gets banned just their account? If so, who's to say they won't re-register under a different user name.

I don't know how else they could do it. But yes The spammer's are hot and heavy.

It is really bad again lately. I almost have a day job with it. What do they think. That we have nothing to do. Well they are wrong. After all we do have our orchids.

It's sad that they channel their energy into something so pointless. I'm sure they could find something a little more constructive?

That is what they do re-register using a diff name . I don't know why they think any of us orchidholics would buy their crap .. I banned a lot today too .This one needs blasting Antenlynealew bet a wow gold .

I think we are losing the spam battle after logging on in the wee hours and seeing all the "wow gold" posts.

I can think of a couple of previous boyfriends I would've swapped for a pile of rocks!

I like that. It really is bad last days. I banned so many that I lost count.

It's been getting worse lately. Nearly every day, roughly 9am ->1pm here, there is always someone posting. Any chance we can do some sort of IP address ban? If not, a key word ban would be fantastic, but I dont know what kind of software/coding this would take, or if it would be even possible.

this was my thought when i originally posted--the IP address.

I was totally agreeing, and subtly trying to "broach" the subject... Just really to see if it was even feasible with the current website setup.

What about someone like this person, posts a comment that is copied from an earlier post but at the bottom of her post are links for WOW Gold?

I am not a Mod . but it is spam.. imho I would ban them ..
They were registering 3 and 4 at a time last night every time I come here there are several spam posts . Today 8 from the same creep .. last night multi spam posts there has to be a way to stop some of it ...:(( this is ridculous ..

Thing that is odd not all of the spammers registering are posting , so what are they doing ? I have my thoughts on that, maybe using the server to send spam ?

how can you tell they're spammers? Their name?

sometimes you can notice it by the strange things they write in their account, or a strange signature.

I like the ones that post a non-Canadian location and then choose a Canadian flag. :lol:
