scary and fun! "New Milts"
 

I receive a small haul from clouds orchids this morning. I've always been super happy about pulling orchids out of those boxes, But NOT this morning!!!!

Talk about a freakish moment in time as I began unpack some of the orchids, You'll see why once you see the first photo.
I didn't know whether to get the gloves or RUN!
I've never seen fungus like this :blushing:

Andy's ships all his this way. I love that stuff. Could make a pillow from all the stuff I've accumulated! :)

That's not fungus .. that's .. ?? .. orchid navel lint! .. :coverlaugh:
BTW which milts are they??? :hmm
and they are in spike and budded! ... woohoo :banana:

I was stunned - Never receive orchids like that, although I've got them in a plastic tube thingy. :biggrin:

Dorothy, In the photo's above -- Milt. yellow haze 'jean x lemon frill 'yellowston'
& Milt. pearl ono 'Iliwai' AM/AOS
Got a third one also ... Milt. Martin orenstein 'shirley P' also in bud.

A yellow milt .. they are very difficult to create so I have heard and read! Another great choice! :clap:One I would have made .. I have seen milts with some yellow but not like that !

Thank you Dorothy, I would be correct to assume you have atlease 1 milty? Maybe 2 .. 3 .. 4 of them??
What kinda better luck are you lookin' for :hmm

I had one .. with many pseudobulbs and it was very root bound .. most of the pbs rotted and I have but one left.:(
I am hoping it takes .. :) (fingers crossed)
It hasn't been real humid here this year so far and I am just not set up to provide for it.
I am sure you will do better! :)

Dorothy, I don't know how it got that way. But if you really like these orchids, get another!
Don't let 1 milt scare you into thinking they're not for you.

If I never got the second phal or paph, I would not have them now. Sometimes it's not our faults and other times ... It's becuz we are learning what to do and how to do it.

I hope you set up the way you need and get yourself another milty :D

I had a box with fuzzy stuff under the packing peanuts. The first time one came like that I stuck my hand in, felt what seemed like FUR and yelped! I snaked my hand out so fast! You'd think somethin had taken a bite! :blushing:
Whats worse is it was dark (winter time). I'm pretty certain it took me a good 5 mins to get my heart under control. HAHAHA :biggrin: :lol:

Sweet buy Gloria, remembering when I first got a shipment from Andy's, first response gave me an empty pit.

There is a true formula for growing milts, keeping fingers crossed that mine will stop pouting and show it's true colors:biggrin:

Congrats on the clouds purchase. I think the pillow fluff would have given me heart failure too! We just came from there and got Pearl Ono too, it has a tiny spike on it that's starting to show some colour. Martin Orenstein was in flower in their display and it looked really nice, good solid colour. I also have the yellow one, got it last year and it just finished blooming. Seems like an easy to grow plant so far, but it sure as some kind of water demands, especially in the summer growing cycle. I'm waiting for my other pansy orchids to open fully than make a thread on all of them.
