I think this is a Paph?
Hi all,
This plant has been sitting under my friends patio for as many years as I can remember, at least 6-7years. I've asked her about it before and she just said 'I think it's some kind of orchid, it's never flowered'. Finally a couple of weeks ago I couldn't take it any longer and I asked her if I could have it and buy her another plant in it's place. She was happy with that and now has a really nice geranium! LOL http://www.orchidboard.com/community...from_Chris.JPG http://www.orchidboard.com/community...rom_Chris1.JPG http://www.orchidboard.com/community...rom_Chris_.JPG So I'm pretty sure it's a paph, at least I think I am. It was planted in some awful soggy mix very like exhausted potting mix. She said it had never been repotted and couldn't remember where she got it from. I took it out and surprisingly the roots weren't too bad, just a few soggy ones. Trimmed those off and removed some crispy old foliage. Repotted it up in good quality bark in a slightly smaller pot. It seems to like being in my orchid room and in it's new medium as it's perked up and looks greener than it was. So am I right? Is it a paph? |
sure looks Paphish

What does insigne look like? |
Yep could be insigne or a close relative. They all have a similar growth habit. It does look very much the same as mine.
Once it flowers you will know for sure. Should be a cool grower that can also take heat. |

Oh wow Squirrel that is gorgeous! And the leaves do look like the one I rescued. Here's hoping I can get it to flower, I'm very new to paphs and phrags. Can anyone give me tips on how to treat it? We have just come into spring here in Western Australia. :)
