I've moved!

Well, I did it. My wife and I picked up our tiny apartment in Chicago and moved down to a nice big house in San Antonio. All the orchids made the trip except for two phals that were suffering and got axed right before the move. The only signs of damage were a couple bent leaves and a bit of temperature burn on my one masdevallia.

I've been experimenting with growing a number of my plants on the covered patio in my backyard. So far it seems to be working, but I'm sure it will take some time to see how much light and heat they really get out there.

Anyway, I'm now looking for hot growers--summer high temps in the 90s-100s, humidity 60-90%. Suggestions?

Renanthera, Vanda, Vandopsis (direkt sun) and Rhynchostylis (bright, but not full sun) likes it hot.

I was born and raised in West Texas. Now in florida, but I just got back from Austin area. Sadly, unless you live in a city, orchids are hard to come across. Well I just kinda poked around a little so I could be wrong. San Antonio is a nice place. I even have a little family history there. My great great uncle built the Gunter Hotel, which is located on the riverwalk, in 1909.

Hey Congratulations!!! It must be exciting, especially now that you can grow a new set of orchids. :D
My first order of business would be to grow this:
ANTHURIUM PENDULIFOLIUM X CUBENSE

But then I would try my hand at Vanda alliance orchids outdoors :D
Good luck with everything!

Congrats on your new home Scott, a far cry from apartment living. I just moved a few of my warm loving chids out on the patio, must have plenty of circulation and water ... a new learning experience for me. gl to the both of you.
