I have one "Red Fantasy". It's a reliable bloomer in late winter.
I've been thinking about getting the two other varieties (being one of them the one you have).

Very nice to hear that you're growing that variety rbarata!

I haven't got a red of this kind, but growing a couple of Sharry Baby 'Ruby' - which haven't flowered yet! Also growing in scoria and doing well. Weird name heheheh ..... ie. Sharry Baby.

Just uploading a couple of more nice pics taken this morning of Twinkle 'Fragrance Fantasy'.

I have five Twinkles.

'Chian - Tzy Golden No3' not flowered for me yet.
'CT Strong' not flowered for me yet
'Red Fantasy'' currently in bloom
'Soft Pink' this has bloomed for me, the colour is extremely pale.
'Fragrant Fantasy this has also bloomed for me.

All have a faint floral fragrance.

Very nice collection Diane!

I recall the Fragrance Fantasy has a vanilla type smell. I will remember to check later - as I haven't smelled this particular batch yet!

Did you smell a vanilla type scent for your Fragrance Fantasy? Actually - I know that the label for this orchid is all over the place. On some sites, it is Fragrant Fantasy, and other sites Fragrance Fantasy. No consistency!

I thought it smells like a soft talcum powder type custard cream biscuit/ vanilla.

One of the ones that hasn't flowered, the CT Strong has developed about 15 new growths all tightly packed against the growth it came with. The orginal growth is not looking its best, but I guess you wouldn't with 15 babies!
There are some leaves on the old growth I would like to remove but I'm concerned doing that will disturb the young growths as these old leaves seem well connected despite the bedraggled look.
I'm desperate to unpot to see what is going on with the roots but its too cold at the moment and all the new growths look good so I'm going to wait until Spring.

Wonderful description of the smell Diane. The number of growths on the CT Strong is excellent!!! Doing more than really well there! Thanks for uploading that pic. Very refreshing to look at!

You called this 'mini'. I did a little research and found the plant averages 17 - 20 inches. I would love to have one of these if the plant was a mini size. Do you happen to know of any very small oncidiums?

SouthPark 07-08-2021 10:06 AM

Dusty ----- I seriously got taken by surprise on the very first time it bloomed (not this time, but soon after I first bought it). The leaves were really just a few inches (eg. 3 inches long) ------ and it just developed a flower spike. It surprised me. I wasn't expecting that for such a small plant.

This one really has pretty short leaves. Definitely a miniature oncidium. Some nursery sites have the description of it as miniature oncidium.

Thanks. I will do some more looking.
