Help repotting a majorly overgrown orchid
Hello! I'm totally new here, and I'm sorry if this has been posted before.
This orchid is majorly overgrown! He had been living in a corner of my yard for a good 3 years, and I thought he had died, because he never bloomed. I just sort of left him there.
Earlier this month, when Hurricane Matthew hit, I brought him inside so he wouldn't be a flying object. He was blooming for the first time a few years! I was totally shocked!
However, I have no idea HOW to take care of him. I decided to keep him inside after I showed a photo of him to an orchid seller, and she told me his leaves were far too dark and he needed more light. The photos attached are after he's been inside for a few weeks, and his leaves are significantly lighter than they were.
I would like to replant him, but I have no idea where to start! I know I need orchid bark, and a smallish pot. Does he need to be separated into separate bulbs? I'm sure I'll need to soak his roots to loosen them, and then cut away most of this wooden pot, but I'd like to know which of these roots are salvageable and which I should just cut away.
Thank you!
