Default Dendrobium Fall and go boom

Good morning
Had issue with my dog last night. He ran knocked over a couple of Dendrobiums (Noble, Kinganum) that were outside air bathing. Well I saw the Noble on the ground fully lose from his net pot, don't know how long, or exactly how it happened, well rushed him to emergency repot in kitchen.
Well kinda cut some corners on sanitation, sterilization. Well finally got him back in to some new mix, net pot, stake, basically the works. I grabbed nearest pair of clippers, stove burned, then went at it. Upon examination did notice some brown rot in rootball. Got him in, and off I go.
The thing I wanted to ask is:
Should one always water after completion of repotting or not?
I typically don't after a normal repot because mix is damp from rinsing, watery hands and so forth. So I didn't water him. Woke this morning to find yellowing leaf some split leaves. Sprinkled cinnamon over leaves.
Should I water him Now or wait?
Advice much appreciated. Thank you in advance

If the mix is totally dry you could water it. Otherwise I would leave it for a dew days. When you trim roots, it is good to leave them un-watered for a few days to heal over so that they don't rot.

I hope you didn't sprinkle cinnamon all over healthy leaves. If so, I would shower it off. Cinnamon is a dessicant and will dry out your leaves. It should only be dabbed on fresh cut ends of leaf or roots. That yellow leaf must have been damaged in the fall or it wouldn't turn yellow overnight. Leave it to die off or cut it off.

My dogs have knocked orchids out of pots before. I think that they are tougher than you think.

No need to panic when this happens, just repot it.

As far as making sure plants don't get knocked over by your dog in the future.... go outside with him when he goes. I don't know how most people's dogs behave, but when mine get outside, they act like someone turned off their brains and activated their noses and nothing else matters except what they can smell. On a normal day, in the house, Jet does not care about squirrels or cats, but outside... they become the spawn of evil and he MUST vanquish them immediately. It's like he goes into sensory overload outside.

So go out with your pup and sit next to your sunbathing orchids to defend them from his evil tail.
