I use clay pots for almost all my orchids. I put a packing peanut or two in the bottom for good drainage. You can also use some rocks but make sure they don't plug up the hole on the bottom of the pot. Clay pots that are not glazed breath well and they will dry out faster than a plastic pot. If the pot is really small you might not need anything in the bottom of the pot. Small clay pots dry out fast too so you might find that you need to water more often.
