So i uprooted 2 phals of mine that were wilted blooms and wrinkly leaves and i found that both of them had shriveled up roots/// not really root rot? what does this mean?

Did the roots feel squishy? Does the outside of the root slide off and leave behind a string like core? If the roots are like this then it is root rot. If they are firm and shriveled it might mean you are not watering enough. Can you post pics of the roots? That would help.

How often you need to water can depend on what your phals are potted in. If they are dry, shriveled up you may need to plant in something that holds more moister (sphag moss).

If it is that warm, probably not. Keep using the skewer and you should be fine. If the roots were not squishy and the plant has roots but are just dry then you were not watering enough. Watering too much and not watering enough can look the same in the plants leaves so the way to tell what is wrong is by looking at the roots. Can you post pictures of the roots? That would be the best way to tell. Was the temp that high when you first noticed the problem? Are you growing the plant inside or outside? If outside then you are probably not watering enough. But if you have air conditioning and you grow inside then it is still possible to over water even if it is hot outside. How long did it take for the skewer to go dry after you watered last?
