Default Does anyone experiment?

I've been reading some of the posts on mounting,in particular mounting on synthetic media.Has anyone done experiments with things like those un-soaped kitchen scrub pads,or floor buffing pads,or even bundles of split bamboo?

I read somewhere that plastic dish washing scourers and epiweb were very similar and that whoever posted it was going to experiment with mounting and see what happened. I haven't come across another thread which said it actually worked tho!

I have used sterilised green scouring pads as an experiment in my viv and threaded the backs of them with kebab sticks so they stand independently at the back of the tank and I can lift them in and out, with a view to pinning mounted mini-minis to it

IF this will work I don't know yet! But I like the green background and the fact I can remove it because with the kebab sticks it's not glued to the tank so today I'm going to TRY seeding it with moss, in the same way I've seen hobbyists seed epiweb with moss... If it's going to work or not I have absolutely NO idea!! but if it fails I can lift it out and replace with fresh pads again and not worry about it too much!

I would also like to hear from anyone who has tried succeeded or failed with mounting or mossing scouring pads?? LOL
