Catts in clear pots?
When I need to re-pot my catts would they benefit from being planted in clear pots?

The only advantage I can think of is that you'll be able to see the condition of the roots and medium.

I like clear pots on most orchids, but it is simply for the reason Ray says, so I can see the roots and medium to help me judge watering and feel more comfortable about them.
Unlike Vanda, Phal and similar types the roots don't photosynthesise on Catts and so like does not have any direct benefit for them.

There's the reason of seeing how the roots do and whether or not you need to water the plant again, but the roots for Catts can and do photosynthesize as well.

i prefer my catts in clay, and i think they like it too....for the fact that they tend to be top heavy and tip over easily...plus they dry out faster in clay, and the media lasts longer....

Agree with Dounoharm. I have one Cattleya in a clear pot but when I will repot it's going clay.

I have started moving some catts to clay as well. It helps with my tendency to over-water and sure helps the top heavy thing. But clear pots are nice to see what's going on.

I used plastic pots for everything because I looooooved to see root development, etc.
However, 2 things made me change to clay: 1) since I grow outside, the pots developed algae and it looked disgusting and 2) I had run out of plastic pots and only had one clay pot for a catt. I used that, thinking I would just go back and change it whenever I received my plastic pots. Well, the roots just took off.
I switched to clay and I've never regretted it. I do miss seeing the roots though.
