Dracula felix - size of leaves? Male

I've been very happy with Ecuagenera when I've ordered from them. Most of the plants have been a good size and in really good shape. Sometimes pleurothallids have a hard time if they have to travel too far though.

As far as smaller growing species, I just got a Dracula psyche that is pretty short (5") and is definitely full grown. Spikes grow upright too. Drac. benedictii is shorter too and has a horizontal to semi-pendulous flowering habit so you shouldn't have to worry about hanging it up or anything. Drac. inaequalis is pretty awesome and stays small too. It is a pendulous bloomer though, although the spikes aren't all that long. It does pretty well with intermediate temps in my conditions. There are more I'm sure. Good luck one way or another!

You know the problem with importing anything that lives into Canada ....Where in Ontario can you get everything in 1 spot; specialized pots, mediums, moss, tree fern, etc? I'm a beginner and now im gonna try some new orchids so i need a variety of stuff.

Thanks for the tip on TAOS, i have to go work some magic cause i already used up my chid buget for the next 2 months, oh well.....

Thanks

Here's a list of additional Dracula species that are well suited for a cooler terrarium, with more compact foliage:

Dracula berthae
Dracula chestertonii - can be VERY short
Dracula ligiae
Dracula ophioceps
Dracula xenos

Most Dracula are not going to be compact, but these species are smaller and will often produce inflorescences held above the foliage. Also, the caudae are not excessively long so that the flower will be drooping on the terrarium bottom.

You will find better luck in Masdevallia species that are VERY compact (some are under an inch!) and produce extraordinary blooms...

Dracula bella would probably be ok for a cooler one as well I think. I grow it very cool and it seems to do ok.

And it's quite a compact plant so far, I've had it for a few years.
