Lepanthes Sherry Bridyham

This is an perplexing hybrid by ecuagenera from the mid 2000's... between l. calodictyon and telipogoniflora... how they were able to get to the near microscopic flower parts to pollinate is beyond me... two warm growing lepanthes. Handled close to 90 without a setback.

The teli parent enlarged the flower significantly. Got it earlier this year from ecuagenera... Free flowers all year.

As a bonus here is one of my calodictyons... while I can't complain about the reddish leaves of the hybrid, the beautiful patterning of the this parent was completely lost to the progeny, or at least this clone.

Agreed. I think most folks grow them for that. Flowers are a bonus.

Yeah, the calodictyon is mainly grown for the foliage, but I love the foliage in combination with the the flowers that have such a rich coloration and look curiously like a vibrantly colored gnat... think those are what pollinate them, not sure why the color...

but the for the hybrid, I say that about the leaves, th but the flower size makes this an exceptional lepanthes, cross or not...

And both do well with heat and supposedly don't even like cold. If you like lepanthes and have conditions too warm, these are definitely worth trying! Many grow these in enclosed clear containers with no air flow and low light, although for me they do much better with at least minimal air flow and higher than low low light...
