Cool I grew a pretty flower

I got one to bloom for me that I got to watch grow and not blast. I brought some of the masdys in a few months ago bec they dont like really cold outside . Half stayed outside and half inside.
This one bloom was grown inside. No blast
no buds no blooms outside,7 spikes on others with buds inside

this one is made with 2 nice parents
Copper Angel (veitchiana ‘Gary Baker’ x
triangularis ‘Smith’s')

the purple hair is iridescent. if you tilt it sideways and in the light you can see it change color. this attracts insects as it looks like flashing lights to them... very cool to us humans too

Wow that's awesome. Wish I could see it in person.

thanks you all ...its a nice sized flower for a masdy. about 5 inches from tip of tail to tail. about 1.5 inches across but its still opening up. I figure I better get a pic before it falls off..

I put these nto my little RJars and Im back in masdy business till I get my outdoor situation settled this summer. Just glad to have a flower cuz I was getting lonely

I've never seen a copper angel that looked so much like the vietchiana parent.

I would suggest that it might be mislabelled.

Check out these Masdevallia Copper Angel.
If you search flickr, you won't find a Copper Angel that looks like this.

That was my thought as well -- for the same reason. Beautiful in any event.
