Masdevallia Aquarious
This guy has been trying to flower since June. 6 buds didn't make it, but it kept trying and finally success.
I tried to make a stop motion video of the second bud, but the camera kept getting bumped into since it was in the kitchen. Also, I don't have an automatic timer. Soooo, it came out... ok.
.
I fear it may have been at the expense of the plant though. It dropped a lot of leaves while putting these two flowers out and I don't know why. Since the season is changing it could be so many things.

Beautiful flower. I suggest you follow RJ's glass culture since the plant is starting to dehydrate and fall its leaves....fungi is also infesting the tip of the leaves....they want to be evenly moist and your mix dries the roots quick....easy on the fertilizer on these kind of plants instead of weekly weakly do it only once a month feeding.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to repot it once the flower falls off. There is a big selection of glass jars in the craft store here. I think the black spots on the leaves were mostly heat damage. They showed up during a week of 90+ days and haven't gotten any worse since it cooled down.

I liked the video, it really shows off the beauty of it once it opens. Thanks for sharing, great flower.
