Restrepia trichoglossa - Strange flowers?
Default Restrepia trichoglossa - Strange flowers?

Got this plant a few moths ago and it has finally started to flower. The strange thing is that the thin petals on the sides that normally are straight in most pictures I've seen of Restrepias (this is the first one I have) are a bit crocked on my plant. It has had 4 or 5 flowers now and they all look that way. I bought it as R. trichoglossa ssp. subserrata and haven't been able to find any pictures of that variety for comparison. Can it be a problem with the growing conditions?

Thanks

It's definatly not normal for this species.

The only thing I can imagine is a (low) humidity issue causing the flowers to be sticky when opening.

Sounds likely as it gets a little low sometimes (sub 50).

Really pretty.

Can't really advise on the side petals not seen that before. However low humidity/not enough water can cause all sorts of crinkles on these so I would guess the same as Rob.
