Stelis micrantha now Stelis aprica ? Male
Default Stelis micrantha now Stelis aprica ?

Is Stelis Micrantha now known as Stelis aprica? I am having some trouble finding info on its upkeep. Mine has quite a few spikes on it and is about to bloom for the first time. How long do the flowers last, what kind of light etc. I picked it up on ebay last year.

I don't know the details but I've used the 'World Checklist of Selected Plant Families' to look it up and it seems to indicate there is more than one orchid originally named Stelis Micrantha.

Stelis micrantha Barb.Rodr. is listed an illegal name and that it is a synonym of Stelis aprica Lindl

Stelis micrantha (Sw.) Sw., J. Bot. (Schrader) is listed as still being an accepted name.

There is also Stelis micrantha var. atropurpurea (Hook.) Josst which is listed as a synonym of Stelis ciliaris Lindl.

I don't know if I've quoted those name correctly but I've linked them all to the world checklist so you can check them there.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about culture, I don't even know what they look like... just looked them up.

yep, that is pretty much what I had read, thank-you. Well, I must have done something right if it is about to bloom.
