Perhaps leaving a cookbook opened to a good recipe for squab (facing their cage) would be instructive?

Hi Susie! ![Waving](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/thumb_wave.gif) Those lovebirds are such stinkers! I can't believe how they went to town on your poor phal. ![cry](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/cry.gif) I must say that you have a gorgeous orchid. It's huge and has such pretty blooms! I have a male lovebird that was handraised but you still can't pick that sucker up without wearing a glove! He used to have a girlfriend but she died a few years ago. When they were together it was not a pretty site! They were constantly going at it (if you know what i mean). Seriously, every moment they were awake! I absolutely love mine but probably wouldn't get one again based on past experiences. ![Coverlaugh](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/coverlaugh.gif) Yours are so cute though!

Sarah, you are so right! ![Blushing](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/blushing02.gif) They really, really love each other, a lot, but hate everyone else. I have to use a glove, too. These are older so they have calmed down some.
Gregg, you are so funny today! ![ROFL](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/rofl3.gif) I'm not going to eat my Lovies! My husband really laughed when I read him what you and Paul said (he agrees).

The last Lovebird I called Chuck's girlfriend, talk about onrey . She was an escape artist snaps on all the cage doors if you didn't she stalked you, everytime I looked there she was with an evil glint in her eye .
I bought 2 of them as a supposed pair ... not... both were hens I gave her to a friend along with a supply of band aids .
At one time I had several pairs and found the Dutch Blues or Blue Pieds were the best natured , sounds silly but is true . Gin

![Coverlaugh](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/coverlaugh.gif) That's so funny Gin! And so true! Those little guys fool you with their adorable little faces and then before you know it you're bleeding profusely from several fingers. ![Smile](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/smile.gif) My female was really friendly outside her cage but getting her out was another story. I think I would of appreciated a pair of leather gloves! ![Shocked](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

Evil Lovebirds...

They can bite really hard! I may try lettuce or something leaf-like next. Did you see how much they ate in one day??? Their bellies must have been stuffed! See that one in the picture giving me the evil eye ![Evil](https://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/evil.gif) ... that is Jade. She is really crazy. She probably did most of the damage.

Susie--
I used to have an evil lovebird as well...my Siamese cat was scared of him...which was I good thing I guess. Sadly, both are gone now (my collie would probably like their companionship...or a light lunch...)
Anyways, my lovebird eschewed most veggies & fruit as well...but he loved cilantro...I think i went through 2 bunches of it a week just for the bird.
Funny how something so little and cute can bite so hard and rule the roost.
