I think that in initiating spikes actually the initiating flower buds (can't remember the name of the process) is somewhat temperature dependant. I'll have to look through thern literature.

Right now, I have quite a few Wildcats at home, all have only one spike (drying up). I have a Colmanara Masai Red too, and it has 2 spikes out of one PB. Pics if you want.

I had never envisioned the fertilizer issue on the "salad growing" side, thanks Camille.
