Ok, so I have this little vanda hybrid rescue that has black spotting on foilage and stem. I've sprayed SA-20, (equivilent of Physan), for the past couple of days. Is it a problem to spary it daily until I see an improvement?
Thanks,
Tony
What kind of improvement do you expect to see, the black spots you are talking about, if they are fungus damage will not go away, they are there for good.
This is what it says on the Physan label:
ORCHIDS
Adult plants, use 2 tsp. PHYSAN 20 per gallon of water.
Spray anytime disease other than rot is evident. Spray
once per month as preventative maintenance. Soak
compost when fungus is evident. For other uses of
PHYSAN 20 with orchids, refer to Insert #2.
No, not a problem but it isn't necessary to spray that frequently. Next, while I don't grow Vanda as much as I'd like to, those spots look like damaged areas and not necessarily disease. Certainly, problems can develop from these kinds of things and especially in your location. For now I'd just watch things and back off on the SA-20.
Thanks all. No, didn't expect it to get rid of damage already there, but there is a new leaf getting ready to pop up and the center growth area looks kind of black or brown as well, and that was my concern. Guess I'll just keep an eye on it and spray a bit less. Down here you can go through a gallon of Physan/SA-20 a month with our heat and humidity, even with pretty good air movement!
Cheers,
Tony
