Default partial yellow new growth-catt.

A few weeks ago one of my healthy (seeming) catt leaves started to yellow. At that time, the plant was potted in fir bark and charcoal. The yellowing began to spread further down the leaf and eventually started turning brown. The darkest brown area felt slightly mushy....but not much. I decided to unpot and check the roots. There were 3 or 4 but they were rotted. I soaked the base/root area in hydrogen peroxide a few mins. then repotted it in all sphag (soaked in water and KLN) in hopes that it would grow new roots. The leaf fell off this morn. Fairly recently a new growth started to yellow, as well....but only about 1/2 of it so far.

What do you think the problem is? Poss. bacterial? Fungal? Something else? Also, what do you think I did to cause whatever the problem is?

I would appreciate your advice,
Vicki

Too much water will do that, It looks like you have it in spag., repot in bark chip and let it dry out and rest a week or so. I had one do this it had been bumped and damaged the roots some and then the roots couldn't take the water has usual.

I'm sorry, Carol..I should have made my question clearer. The plant was initially potted in bark and charcoal when I first noticed the problem awhile back. I moved it to sphag just recently after I saw that it was rootless..hoping to coax it into growing new roots. Even though there are none, am I understanding correctly that you're advising me to move it to bark and let the root area dry or did I misunderstand? If that's what you advise, I will. Plus, I will definitely watch my watering closer. So, you don't think there is a bacterial or fungal problem that I should treat, as well?
Thanks for your reply and advice,
Vicki
