Black spots on Cattleya new leaves only Female
Default Black spots on Cattleya new leaves only

Hi all,

I have some Cattleya lueddemanniana seedlings that are showing these dark black spots on new leaves only. I suspect it’s some kind of fungus but have no idea which one or how to treat it.

The seedlings have been doing great up until these appeared. And the white stuff is just diatomaceous earth.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Looks like anthocyanin pigmentation.
That's what happens to your body when you get tanned.

Although they are seedling, I would use a coarser medium.

Agreed. They do that to protect themselves. I think you're giving them far too much light.

That makes a lot of sense, they are under pretty bright lights. I’ll move them somewhere less intense.

Thank you!
