in case you were "on the fence" about why iguanas and curly tails must die?

I know the feeling. I waited years for my Cattleya Royal Walk 'Snowdrift' to bloom for the first time and, finally, it did. It opened up completely yesterday. I could tell that it should have been beautiful. Unfortunately, Japanese beetles have gotten to it so it has a bunch of holes.
On a side note, when the orchid flowers begin wilting, my daughter feeds them to the guinea pig. He really enjoys them. Sigh.

Having had countless buds and roots wiped out by slugs recently, your pain deeply resonates with me.
Thankfully for you, iguanas make bigger targets than slugs go get 'em DC!

It's lovely.
I could see that being a favorite in my collection. And 6 flowers too. You can afford to have a couple of sepals nibbled. At least to me the damge doesn't look too bad unless it continues.

If you mean air rifle (as in Diana 24 or higher), OK. Otherwise I am thinking a .22 caliber.

My selection of air powered killing devices ranges from .40 and .625 cal blow tubes to .177, .22 and .25 PCP air guns.
I feed the vultures and raccoons a lot

We can't fire anything useful within city limits, except at a shooting range. I trap the pack rats with Havahart and snap traps. Iguanas are too big for snap traps but they might kill a curlytail. As for Havaharts, I suspect the tails would prevent the drop door from closing and the reptile might be able to escape the trap. But it might be worth a look.
