Default Is there such a thing as a "simple" hose end misting system????

I'm still planning my shade house re-design which will hopefully get underway in November and one of the things I want to add is a simple misting system around the sides for daily mising of small mounted plants.

I have a top end electronic, solenoid based system with a day/night timer that runs 15 misting nozzles over my vanda collection twice a day in my shade house. (it's from Charley's Greenhouses if you are familiar with those.) The only issue I've had with it (other than having to replace it after Irma) is the clear plastic filter cover started leaking and I bet I replaced 3 or 4 of them before I switched to a solid black one which is apparently, much less susceptible to UV degradation because the first one I used is still there after 2 years. I just don't want to spend that kind of money for a simple once a day on/off system.

I've been researching this for awhile and I really don't see what I want but maybe that's because it wouldn't work.

What I'd like to do to start is run maybe 3 mister heads that only have to project mist down about 3 feet, be expandable and work off of a hose end through one of those battery operated Orbit timers that runs for say 10 minutes once a day. I have a 3 piece overhead PVC sprinkler system in the shade house that works perfectly set up like that.

Do you think I could do it that way (PVC with misters in lieu of sprinkler heads) for my mounts? Will it have enough pressure?

I'd go with a system like this: Amazon.com

Ya what Roberta posted looks good. You just put a Y on the hose bib with the timer on one side (so you can still use the hose for other stuff. Then just run a hose to the misting system.

There should be no real difference in pressure from a professional valve system. They all go to the same water line so it should work fine. Since you don't freeze where you are (right?) You just need to protect all the plastics from the sun and they should be just fine.

I looked at those but I think I was concerned about the brass nozzles. They'll probably get eaten by the salt in under a year but I did say I was looking for a "cheap" solution, didn't I?

Correct Louis, freezing is not an issue. Everything will be inside the shade house but the sun and salt air still take their toll on all manmade materials.

In my greenhouse in PA, I created a closed-loop network of 3/4” PVC pipe suspended from the ceiling. Picture an “H” with the top and bottom connected and two cross-bars in the middle. I bought “saddles” and misting nozzles from “The Drip Store” and set up relay good overhead misting. If they’re exposed, PVC can be painted white with latex paint to protect it.

Later, I changed the nozzles from “mist” to “rain” and did the watering that way.
